As the cooler nights begin to roll in and the air turns crisp, it is only natural we adapt our homes to suit the upcoming seasonal shift to Winter. We’ve put together some stylish ways you can warm up your interior, renew your space and landscape your garden to transform your home into a comfortable Winter haven.
1. Switch up your colour palette
Utilising colour is a great way to easily add warmth to a space. Try embracing rich, earthy hues like clay and terracotta. If your home already incorporates lighter neutrals, try balancing your space with on-trend accent colours like mustard, or olive. These colours palettes will wrap your home in a warm ambience suited for Winter and even Spring! We work with leading, bespoke designers like I For Design & Style to best complement the aesthetic of your home.
2. Install Skylights
Shorter days through the winter months often mean longer hours of lighting inside your home. Installing a skylight serves to optimise a room’s natural light (and can be a good source of Vitamin D!). They’re perfect in Queensland homes all year-round, as electric skylights open, offering ventilation along with the energy savings of natural light and fresh air. The best part about skylights is that they can be installed into both existing and new homes.
3. Show your bathroom some love
There is no denying that coming home to a hot shower is the best part of any cold day. Perhaps now could be the time to turn that shower into a long, relaxing bath? What about the addition of heater lights and heated towel rails? Introducing grand mirrors, and big windows, also increases light and harnesses that feeling of space. At RYCON Constructions, we specialise in bathroom renovations, both big and small. We collaborated with Elite Bathware & Tiles, Mivis Joinery, All Stone Specialists and Euroglass Australia for this exquisite bathroom renovation.
4. Embrace luxe textures
This season, it’s all about tapping into natural tones and textures. Plush accessories can add dimension, a level of softness and cosiness to the space. Think dark wooden tones paired with shaggy rugs, textured throw blankets, and decorative pillows. Also adorn the space with other intimate extras like scented candles to tie it all together.
5. Lush and leafy
Now is the best time to get into your garden! Prune back those bushy plants, clip those hedges and let the warm sunshine seep in to your home! Why not renew your outdoor space so it is ready to bloom in time for Spring? If you are in the process of renovating your yard, it is a good time to consider specific plant and flower choices best suited to climate and location.
